I've read every installment but I don't always remember to hit "like". I'm enjoying it very much. I have been particularly enjoying the richer characterization of Lila, for example. I would keep reading if you stick with it, but yes, do what's right for the book.
Ah, Tom, you’re the one I feel I’m letting down by not continuing! You have been my most faithful reader. But I have to figure out what’s best for the book.
This makes sense. I mentioned elsewhere that 19th-century serialization was quite a different beast from doing the same thing on Substack. It's very hard to hold on to readers over the entire course of a long story when it's presented piecemeal in electronic form.
A few people are now aware of the book that weren’t before, and I’ve made some tweaks and improvements. Now as I see it I have two possibilities, or two and a half: 1) publish it myself; 1.5) publish it with one of the small presses I’ve worked with before; 2) keep my powder dry until one of the other novels I’m peddling gets a deal somewhere.

I'm good with whatever path you choose. I've been enjoying it all so far.

You do, Josh. No worries about me, but thanks for the thought.
